Academic Relations and Kaiser Permanente Northern California Response to COVID-19
May 25, 2020 (updated 5/25; (9:01 a.m.)
After consulting expert resources and a review of current best practices, we are taking preventative action by temporarily discontinuing clinical rotations, clinical training programs, shadowing experiences, and practicum hours for pre-licensure nursing students in our 21 medical centers.
This decision will help to conserve precious supplies and resources focused on addressing the challenges of COVID-19, and reduce exposure risk to Kaiser Permanente members, staff and students participating in clinical training. We understand the challenges this restriction creates for completion of student’s required clinical hours. We are fully committed to supporting student education programs, and are closely reevaluating challenges related to the COVID-19 situation to ensure we can reinstate training programs as quickly as possible. We value our partnership with you, please visit this site for ongoing updates.
For questions regarding potential impact on other students, please consult with your local leader or the Northern California Regional Command Center.
