Discovering Joy and Meaning (Community Partners)

Kaiser Permanente Scholars Academy invites you to foster resilience and positivity with sessions for “Discovering Joy and Meaning.” Please join us for tools and approaches to create positivity and fulfillment in work life and beyond. National speakers will lead educational events which will be complemented by separate Healing Circle sessions to reinforce learning and build connection. We hope you can participate. Registration is required for each event.

CEs will be available for attendance at live speaker events.  Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number 2365, for 1.0 contact hours.

About our Speakers

Sharon Tucker, PhD, APRN-CNS, PMHCNS-BC, NC-BC, NAP, FAAN is a behavior change expert, speaker, researcher, author and professor. She is a licensed advanced practice psychiatric-mental health nurse and holds board certification as an integrative nurse coach and meditation/mindfulness teacher. She has held leadership positions at 3 large academic medical centers, currently at The Ohio State University.

Brenda Buffington is a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC), a Certified Exercise Physiologist, and holds a Doctorate of Education (EdD). Brenda is in her seventh year at The Ohio State University as the Executive Director of the Health Athlete Program, Assistant Professor for Health & Wellness Innovation in Healthcare and the Lead Faculty for the Health & Wellness Coaching Graduate Certificate in the College of Nursing.

About Healing Circles

Healing Circles are facilitated, loosely structured sessions that allow people to share in a safe, inclusive setting. Traditionally used in First Nations ceremonies and based on the concept of gathering around a fire, they bring people together in the spirit of friendship and community.
